Hey there, I’m Ethan Merritt, and if you’re a veteran trying to navigate the VA disability claims process, I know exactly how frustrating and confusing it can be—because I’ve been there.

I served 8 years as an Infantry Officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, commissioning in 2014 from Clarion University. Over those years, I deployed across the Middle East (2016-2017) under Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve, working alongside U.S. and allied forces. In 2018, I deployed to Denmark for a joint training mission with the Danish Home Guard, and in 2020-2021, I was activated statewide to assist with COVID-19 emergency response in hospitals across Pennsylvania. 

But when I left the military, I faced a new battle—figuring out my VA disability benefits.

I worked with two different VSOs, spent three years digging through VA regulations, legal codes, and medical evidence, and tested every strategy I could to maximize my VA rating. Through trial and error, I finally won my claim and secured a 100% P&T rating—but it shouldn’t have taken that long.
